Escape From Numenor Module nearing completion!
Well, it's been a long haul, but I'm finally back to trying to finish up "Escape From Numenor". The adventure that was played in 2005's MerpCon I.
The adventure is set in Second Age 3319, only weeks before the
"Fall" of Numenor as detailed in the Akallabeth (The Silmarillion).
It is a fast paced, intense adventure.
Originally designed for campaign play with multiple groups and
GM's. But quite playable for a shorter to moderate lengthed campaign
adventure.
This is definitely for "higher level/skilled/experienced" characters.
Most of the module avoids any specific game system references, so you can use it with any game system you like.
The appendix provides stats for game specific information such as NPC stats, etc.
I'll try to provide such information for the following game systems:
I would appreciate it anyone wanted to help me with conversion to other systems such as: Or other systems you play in Middle-earth/Arda You can email me at: hawke at merp dot com Even if I don't get this module as finished as I would like it to be, I'll make sure I make a release of the unfinished version "As is" warts and all, since so many have been asking to see it. Hopefully the feedback from that will help me improve it towards the final version. I'll announce in the news section on this site when I've made a PDF release ready for download. I'll post when the pdf is ready for download. Click the "Read More" link for this article (Below), to read some of the introduction from the module.... You are all members of a band of rebels that have been hiding in the mountains of Andustar, the Northwest segment of Numenor, near Nen Andunie (bay) for the past several weeks. Those of you who are Numenorean, are a very tiny minority of the population calling yourselves by various names including Dunedain (“The Faithful”), Nimruzîrim “Elf-friends” (plural of Nimruzîr), Elendilli as in Elendil's men, but most commonly and simply just “The Faithful”. The throne of Númenor has been usurped by Tar-Calion, as he is known in the now forbidden tongue of Quenya, the Noldor elves' High elven tongue. He now calls himself in the Numenorean Adunaic tongue instead, Ar-Pharazôn “The Golden” as the twenty-fourth king of Numenor. The rightful ruler of Númenor should have been the daughter of Tar-Palantir, the former King of Númenor, Míriel. But instead, when Tar-Palantir, known in Adunaic as Inziladûn, passed away beyond the Halls of Mandos, Pharazôn son of Gimilkhâd, took to wife against her will, Míriel who was his cousin, doing evil in this. Evil also in that the laws of Númenor did not permit the marriage, even in the royal house, of those more nearly akin than cousins in the second degree. He took on the Adunaic title of Ar-Pharazon the Golden, forsaking the traditional Quenya name of Tar-Calion, and he forbade the use of the elven tongue throughout the land. The others of you not of Numenorean descent, including Elves (very much in secret and hidden) & Dwarves (more visible), have come from various parts of of the world for various reasons, and ended up helping the Dunedain. Some of you help, because the Dunedain are the only ones who would not turn you over to Ar-Pharazon's men, “The Kings Men”, as prisoners, or subsequently to Sauron's Morgothian priests as sacrifices to “The Dark One”. Others of your band help simply because you believe in what “The Faithful” are fighting for; the very heart and soul of the people and land of Westernesse. In recent months, you have been trying to avoid the hunting parties of “The King's Men”, while carrying out various missions for the leadership of the “The Faithful”. The King's Men are those who are loyal to Ar-Pharazon and sadly, now follow the “dark ways” taught by Zigûr, also known as Sauron, in the worship of Morgoth. His priests and most loyal followers are known as the Zigûrim. You and the others of the Faithful have been for generations continuing an underground movement to try to keep “the old ways” alive. The “old ways” include respect for the ways, languages, and teachings of the Eldar, the “First Born” also called Elves in the common tongue of Middle-earth. “The Faithful” for centuries have been attempting to preserve the integration of the Eldar's culture and tongue in Numenorean society. More importantly is the continuation of respect and reverence for the Illuvatar (The One), The Valar, The Song of Arda (Creation) and the ways and rules set down by them in ages past. |
